Samaritan House
Samaritan House has provided support and accommodation to single men in the Canberra region since 1966. It is currently the only provider for crisis accommodation in the ACT and experiences a huge demand on its 12 bedrooms, often turning away 5 to 10 men each day.
Acting as a central hub for homeless men in the ACT, Samaritan House prioritises support to men with complex and multiple needs. The house is a large group property on the north-side of Canberra, which is staffed 24-hours a day. Samaritan House has great relationships with external agencies and a solid volunteer base, in which all assist guests with information, group work, skills training, as well as a sympathetic ear to listen to their story.

Samaritan Services
Funded by ACT Health, this program is linked to Samaritan House. It provides longer-term accommodation and intensive support for those with a diagnosed mental illness. A priority area is those that are exiting institutions, such as the Canberra Gaol (Alexander Maconochie Centre) and the Psychiatric Services Ward. The focus of the service is on supporting the needs of our guests to ensure longer-term stability and independence.
